When she was a young starving actress, Barbra Streisand would sit at a bar in Greenwich Village and wait for somebody to offer to buy her a drink. “I’d rather have a baked potato,” she’d tell them. (Can’t you just hear her saying that?)
I bet there are at least 100 of you who, if we were together on this somewhat momentous birthday of mine, would buy me a drink or even dinner. But instead of a baked potato, I’d rather have your donation to the Mother Duck Endowment to help send a girl to Camp Seafarer. Here’s the link: http://www.motherduckendowment.org
Seafarer is the place that, more than any other, formed me. I founded the Mother Duck Endowment to give daughters of single moms and families who provide community services (front-line safety, education, healthcare, hospitality, wellness, art, etc.) that magical experience, too. It is my singular legacy.
So if you’d be inclined to buy me that drink, or a piece of cake, please help me send a kid to camp instead. And feel free to add a tip and round up. It will make my little birthday girl heart go pitter-pat. ☮️
